Although it might look like a simple piece of fruit, there’s a lot more to an apple than meets the eye. Apples are a good source of a variety of vitamins and minerals. Studies have also established an association between apple consumption and numerous health benefits. An apple a day will do a lot more than just keep the doctor away.
Apples are so versatile that while they are great to eat raw, they also make a delicious addition to baked goods, salads, sauces or stews. Apples are in season August through November so make the most of the fall harvest with these delicious recipes with apples.

Why do we love these magical green fruits so much? First off, they’re clearly delicious. But they’re healthy, too! Avocados are a great source of monounsaturated fat (which can improve cholesterol levels, decrease risk of heart disease, and benefit brain activity), vitamin E (a powerful antioxidant), and vitamin B6 (promotes healthy skin and serves as a back-up fuel). Plus, they’re just darn delicious. And while avocados are a great addition to just about any healthy recipe, just remember not to overdo it — this fruit can be fairly high in calories for those watching their intake.
Here are 39 of our favorite delicious, at least semi-healthy avocado recipes. Try one of them today!
Avocado and Egg Breakfast Pizza
Pizza for breakfast? Yes, please! A whole-wheat Naan bread or other flatbread makes a great hearty base for a breakfast pizza. Top with avocado mash and an egg cooked any style. Throw on some extra veggies (we like arugula and tomato) for even more flavor and nutrients.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, though it may look and taste different depending on where you’re from. While in America it is not out of the ordinary to have a stack of flapjacks and bacon as a morning meal, it is wildly different from Thailand’s customary fish, pork, and rice dish.
World traveling enthusiast Victoria Philpott took note of the various combinations of platters and variety of breakfasts commonly eaten each day along her travels. Rounding up fifty different and delicious meals that are typically eaten in dozens of countries, the globe-trotter shares an appetizing set of images on her blog from various sources of culturally unique breakfasts.
Of course, everyone’s taste palette is different but it is interesting, nonetheless, to see how different cultures interpret the best meal to start your day. It is also best to keep in mind that not all dishes are strictly the only breakfast anyone in any given country eats. Sometimes there just isn’t enough time to prepare a full English breakfast and, other times, you want more than a simple croissant.

Pound cake refers to a type of cake traditionally made with a pound of each of four ingredients: flour, butter, eggs, and sugar. The traditional recipe makes a cake much larger than most families can consume, and so the quantity is often changed to suit the size of the cake that is desired. As long as the ratio is preserved, the resulting cake will be identical to that using the traditional recipe. Hence, any cake made with a 1:1:1:1 ratio of flour, butter, eggs, and sugar is also called a pound cake.
Pound cakes are generally baked in either a loaf pan or a Bundt mold, and served either dusted with powdered sugar, lightly glazed, or sometimes with a coat of icing.
