Pita chips are cracker like snacks that are made from dried pita bread. They are often eaten with a variety of dips, or are served topped with hummus as an appetizer. Homemade pita chips are easy to make, and are much tastier and healthier than commercial varieties.
The basic recipe for baked pita chips is this: “Cut each pita bread in quarters and each quarter in half to make 8 triangles. Place them in a single layer on a sheet pan and sprinkle lightly with olive oil, salt and pepper. Bake for about 10 minutes, until crisp, turning once.” but there are many variations.
